About KSWC
The Kerala Social Work Practitioners Congress is an initiative of Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers (KAPS). KSWC offers a platform for Social Work practitioners, educators and research scholars across India for sharing of knowledge through presentations and discussions.
KAPS, formed in the year 2012, has notable achievements in the past seven years. KAPS has chapters in all the districts of the state and undertaken many initiatives for the development of the profession and professionals. The first KSWC was held at BCM College, Kottayam in the year 2016. The meeting was graced by the presence of eminent personalities like Vice President of IFSW, Secretary General, INPSWA-India (Network of Professional Social Work Associations) and President, INPSWA. The second and third meetings were at Palakkad in 2017 and at Loyola College, Trivandrum in 2018, Fourth edition was at Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous) in 2019, Due to COVOD pandemic, V- KSWC has happened online in 2020 and VI KSWC as Hybrid programme at Vimala College Thrissur (Autonomous) and St.Thomas College Thrissur (Autonomous) respectively. Seventh edition was at St.Joseph’s College, Devagiri, Kozhikode. The veterans in social work fields and government officials have participated in these meetings.
Social Work profession is undergoing major transformation in all levels from local to global. The deliberations in the Congress and National Conference intend to focus the competency of social work practice by learning from others through its formal and informal sessions.
The slogan of KAPS is ‘Together we grow’. KSWC is a wonderful opportunity for Social Workers to gather together under the banner of a professional association with this slogan.
The main objectives of KSWC:
1. Share and exchange experiences among social work practitioners, educators, researchers, development practitioners and trainee social workers from different areas for strengthening the social work profession.
2. Provide a platform to social work professionals across the country and from other countries to gather, discuss and deliberate on the issues related to social justice, social work education, research, practice and the problems faced by social work professionals
3. Discuss various strategies for professional growth.
4. Bring the fraternity of professional social work practitioners together to share, discuss and deliberate upon the issues related to the social work education, practice and research.
5. Understand the strength of our profession, areas where problems are faced and share the practice knowledge so that it will be useful for other practitioners.

Venue of VIII KSWC & National Conference
Day -I (15 Sep 23) programme will be at Animation centre, Kottiyam (only 100 meters from Kottiyam Jn., on Kottiyam-Kundara Road). Accommodation on 15 Sep will be at Animation Centre, Kottiyam itself. Kottiyam is 10 Kms from Kollam Railway station on National Highway. All buses going to Attingal/ Trivnadrum from Kollam are going via Kottiyam.
Day II (16 Sep 23): Programmes will be at Don Bosco College, Kottiyam. This is very near to Kottiyam Jn. and Animation centre.
Day III (18 Sep 2023) Paper presentations will be online.

Call for papers:
Papers are invited for the national conference. Papers can be based on conceptual, research or practice areas related to the sub themes provided. We invite abstract to our email kapsannualcongress@gmail.com The abstract should not exceed 250 words and it should include the author’s name, designation, affiliating institution/organization, mailing address, contact no., e-mail ID, title of the abstract and text. The social workers who are not practicing with any organization also can send abstracts. The abstract and full paper should be in English and typed in MS-Word (using Times New Roman font only). The abstracts will be accepted till 07 Sep 2023. Once the abstract is received, the acceptance will be communicated shortly after reviewed by the committee. The participants have to register for the programme using the registration form.
The selected full papers will be published in KAPS online journal- ‘Kerala Journal of Social Work’. The length of full paper including tables, diagrams, illustrations, references etc. should not be more than 4000 to 5000 words. The full paper should be in English and typed in MS-Word. Bibliographical references should be given at the end of the text in the APA format – 7th style. Abstracts/ full paper may be submitted through email at ‘kapsannualcongress@gmail.com’.

Best Dissertation Award: A committee will select the best dissertation for giving away the best dissertation award. A certificate and cash award will be given to the winner. Also top best five dissertations will be given certificates.

Registration charges are not inclusive of accommodation. Fees for nominal dormitory accommodation is Rs.200. Accommodation facility will be available only for few participants on first come first serve basis (on the venue of Day-1 conference). Interested Social Workers and students (maximum 4 students from each college) can register for the event by filling the attached registration form. Fees can be transferred to given bank account.
