
International models are desirable for social work professionals, said Joji M John, President of the Ontario Association of Social Workers, Canada. He emphasized that the establishment of a National Social Work Council is essential to make this a reality.
He was speaking at the state-level inaugural function of the India Social Work Month Celebrations, held at the KAPS state office in Cyrils Tower, near the Kottayam Collectorate. The event was jointly organized by the India Network of Professional Social Workers, the Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers (KAPS), and the Ontario Association of Social Workers, Canada.
The meeting was presided over by KAPS President Cherian P Kurien. The chief message was delivered by Dr. Ipe Varghese, Secretary General of the India Network of Professional Social Workers.
Dr. Jaison Philip Alappatt (Media & Public Relations Coordinator, KAPS), Sreedevi (KAPS Office Coordinator), and Milan (Office Team Member) also spoke at the event.
The India Network of Professional Social Workers Association is observing National Social Work Month from August 5 to September 5. Various member associations from different states across India are conducting programs to mark the occasion.
As part of the celebration in Kerala, all Social Work Departments and District Chapters are organizing various events in collaboration with the Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers (KAPS).
Participants in these programs will be awarded certificates.
