As part of the World Mental Health Day observance, the Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers (KAPS) Ernakulam Chapter, in collaboration with the Kochi City Police Department and the Excise Department, organized an awareness programme under the banner of Mindfulness Week 2025.
The programme was held at the Excise Zonal Office Theatre, Ernakulam, with the participation of several higher secondary school students. The event aimed to create awareness among young people on mental health, personality development, and child rights.
Fr. Joye James, KAPS Advisory Council Member and Director, ICTA, led a session on “Personality and Mental Health”, highlighting the importance of emotional well-being and self-awareness during adolescence. Mr. Shano Jose, Child Protection Officer and KAPS member, conducted an interactive session on Child Rights and Related Laws.
The event also saw the participation of Mr. Babu from the Kochi City Police (Udayam Project), Ms. Anila, Professional Social Worker and Vimukthi Coordinator, Excise Department, Dr. Shaly M.O., President, KAPS Ernakulam Chapter, and Ms. Nalini, Vice President, KAPS. They interacted with the students and shared valuable insights.
The programme concluded with the formation of a shared vision to continue collaborative efforts between government departments and professional social workers under the leadership of KAPS, aiming to promote the overall well-being of the community through collective responsibility.
