A memorable day at Rajagiri College of Management and Applied Sciences, Kakkanad, as the Department of Social Work (RCMAS), in association with the Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers (KAPS), organized the KAPS Membership Campaign, along with the official launch of its Department of Social Work Association – InThalia, and a one-day training programme on “Conceptual Foundations and Professional Trajectories in Social Work” on 16th October 2025.

As part of the event, 35 social work students joined KAPS through the student membership campaign. The membership documents were formally handed over by Dr. Laly Mathew, Principal, RCMAS, to Dr. Shaly M.O., President, KAPS Ernakulam Chapter.

The inauguration and academic session were led by Dr. Ipe Varughese, Head, Department of Social Work, BCM College, Kottayam & Secretary General, INPSW, who also facilitated an insightful session on Conceptual Foundations and Professional Trajectories in Social Work.

Dr. Shaly M.O. offered an orientation on KAPS membership, highlighting its vision of empowering and enriching professional social workers across Kerala.

Rev. Fr. Ajeesh Puthussery CMI, Associate Director, RCMAS, launched the logo of InThalia, marking an inspiring beginning for the Department of Social Work Association.

Special appreciation to Dr. Smijo Sebastian and Dr. Surya Krishna, Department of Social Work, RCMAS, for their dedicated efforts in coordinating and organizing this enriching event.

The programme marked a meaningful collaboration between KAPS, INPSW, and the Department of Social Work, RCMAS, reflecting the enthusiasm of emerging professionals to engage with the values and vision of professional social work practice.
