Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers (KAPS), in association with the PG Department of Social Work, GEMS Arts and Science College, organized a highly impactful Expert Talk on Human Rights on December 10, 2025, in observance of Human Rights Day. The event took place at the MP Narayana Menon Hall.

Theme: “Redefining Human Rights in a Changing Society”
The program focused on the timely and globally relevant theme, exploring how human rights continue to evolve in the context of rapid social, cultural, and technological changes.

Program Highlights
The event began with a warm welcome by Ms. Anitha Parveen, Head of the PG Department of Social Work, who set an engaging tone for the day.
The keynote session was delivered by Dr. Anshad Kolathur, Consultant – ICMR Research, SHSRC-K, and Vice President, KAPS Malappuram. His thought-provoking discourse shed light on emerging human rights challenges, the responsibilities of modern societies, and the crucial role of social workers in safeguarding human dignity. His presentation received exceptional appreciation from participants.

Felicitation & Participation
Ms. Vishnu Priya, Treasurer, KAPS Malappuram, and Psycho-Social Counselor, GHSS Kunnakkavu, delivered the felicitation address, emphasizing the significance of collective responsibility in promoting and defending human rights.
The session saw active participation from Social Work students, Human Rights Club members, and delegates from nearby colleges, making the discussion vibrant and interactive.
