
Kottayam : The Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers (KAPS) officially launched its landmark development document, Vision 2030, on 29.01.2026 at the KAPS State Committee Office, Cyrils Tower, Kottayam.

The event was chaired by Dr. Cherian P. Kurian, State President of KAPS. The document was formally released by Mr. Joachim Cuthbert Mumba, President of the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) in the presence of Mr. Kim Sung-Pyo, President of the Eurasia Forum; Prof. Dr. L.S. Ghandi Doss, President, INPSWA (India Network of Professional Social Work Associations); and other eminent leaders from international, national, and state levels of the social work fraternity. They shared their insights and reflections, highlighting the evolving role of professional social workers in shaping inclusive and sustainable development.

Vision 2030 outlines KAPS’ strategic interventions in the health, education, and social development sectors, while also emphasizing priority areas in social work education and professional training.

The document underscores the need for togetherness, collective responsibility, and shared commitment to strengthening professional social work and creating meaningful social impact.

Speakers included Dr. Iype Varghese, Dr. R. Dhanasekara Pandian, Dr. Victor Paul, Dr. M.P. Antony, Xavierkutty Francis, Sheelamma R., Fr. Joy James, Dr. Jayson Philip Alappatt, Dr. Shaly M.O., Dr. Joby Babu, Dr. Elizabeth Alexander, and Dr. Abraham Francis (Notre Dame University, Australia).

Vision 2030 presents a strategic framework of interventions planned by KAPS in the fields of health, education, and social development, with active participation from professional social workers. The document also highlights priority areas that require urgent attention in social work education, training, and professional capacity building.
