
The first phase of the Aarohan 2025 Anti-Drug Campaign jointly organized by ESAF Foundation and the Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers (KAPS) concluded yesterday at Naipunya College, Pongam.
As part of the campaign, various competitions such as Field Action Project and Reels Making were conducted among social work students from colleges across Kerala. Winners and their respective colleges were felicitated during the valedictory session.
In the Reels Competition, Loyola College of Social Sciences, Thiruvananthapuram, BCM College, Kottayam, and K.E. College, Mannanam secured the first, second, and third prizes respectively.
In the Field Action Project Competition, BCM College, Kottayam, S.B. College, Changanassery, and Don Bosco College, Kollam won the first, second, and third prizes respectively.
Cash awards and certificates were presented by Mr. Saji Isaac, Associate Director of ESAF Foundation, and Mr. Biju P.C., President of Koratty Grama Panchayat.
The awards were distributed during the valedictory session of the State-level Conference held at Naipunya College in connection with the World Mental Health Day and International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.
The one-day conference, held from 9 AM to 4 PM, featured discussions on topics such as mental health, social work, and the social dimensions of disaster management.
Presentations were delivered by Dr. Trees T. Pulickal, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Vimala College, Thrissur, and Mr. Francis Moothedan, Project Director, MOSC Medical College, Kolenchery, among others.
As part of ESAF Foundation’s “Aarohan Pratibha” initiative focusing on family unity and empowerment in the fight against substance abuse, selected project proposals and reels from the state-level competitions were showcased during the event.
The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. M.P. Antony, State Working President of KAPS.
Mr. Lims Thomas, President, KAPS Thrissur Chapter; Fr. Dr. Polachen K.J., Principal; Dr. Iype Varghese; Fr. Siju Padayattil CMI, Faculty, Department of Social Work; Mrs. Merina Josephine P., Senior Manager, ESAF Foundation; Fr. Dr. Disto Kadalikatt, Vice Principal; Mrs. Joyishree Mandal, and Mrs. Laiby Babu addressed the gathering.
A total of 142 participants, including teachers, students, and social workers from various colleges across Kerala, attended the conference. The program was jointly organized by the Department of Social Work, Naipunya College, and the Thrissur Chapter of KAPS, with the support of the ESAF Foundation.
